HCCC Library and Academic Building project
925 Tons

This project included structural steel fabrication and erection of a new library and academic building for Hudson County Community College. The building is located along Sip Avenue in the Journal Square section of Jersey City. The entire six-story, 117,000 square-foot structure is supported by steel framing and includes many skewed connections and fully rigid moment connections.

One of the challenges of this project was the very limited space to work with on site. To facilitate erection, the building was split up into 27 different sequences with every steel member being detailed, fabricated, delivered, and erected according to the established schedule. This allowed steel erection to proceed in one continuous operation.
